Session Recap: KGS Open Day

Events don’t just happen, they take a team. A group of passionate people brought together by shared interests. For us, that’s a love of gaming in all its forms. From tabletop games and miniature painting to crocheting and fighting games, there’s a place for everyone at KGS.

Our Open Day marked our first event at our new home, Glebe Park Centre. A space we can truly call our own. Getting here hasn’t happened overnight, and we wouldn’t be where we are without the support of The Hive. They gave us the space to grow, build our community, and become what we are today. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for us.

The day began with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11am, or just before, thanks to a bit of classic Scottish weather. From the moment the doors opened, the venue was busy throughout. Visitors got involved in a range of demos including miniature painting, console fighting games, Warhammer, Blood on the Clocktower, and Dungeons & Dragons.

We also ran tours of the venue, giving people a look at the space and a glimpse into what’s coming next for KGS.

In total, we welcomed around 150 visitors and raised an amazing £1,000. These funds will go straight back into the venue, supporting renovations, equipment, and helping us keep KGS accessible for everyone.

We were lucky to have a Anne Conrad Photography on the day, capturing the atmosphere and community that makes KGS what it is.

Next up, we’re hosting:

Magic: The Gathering draft for the latest release, Secrets of Strixhaven, on Sunday 26th April.

Entry is £12 and you keep all the cards you draft.

We’re open six days a week:

Sunday: 12pm – 6pm
