About Kirkcaldy Gaming Society
Kirkcaldy Gaming Society is a vibrant and inclusive gaming community located in the heart of Kirkcaldy. Our mission is to bring together gamers of all ages and skill levels to share their passion for gaming. Whether you are a casual player or a competitive enthusiast, our community provides a welcoming space for everyone to connect, learn, and have fun.
Registered Charity
Kirkcaldy Gaming Society has gained official charity status, a significant milestone in our mission to promote gaming as a positive and inclusive activity within the community.
Our charity number is: SC053453
The status as an SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) will enable Kirkcaldy Gaming Society to expand its outreach and enhance its efforts to provide a safe and welcoming environment for gamers of all ages and backgrounds.
With this recognition, the society aims to foster a sense of community, develop educational programmes, and support mental health through the positive impacts of gaming.
Our objectives as a charity:
a) Foster a safe space for the tabletop gaming community to meet, socialise, and grow.
b) Use the hobby to share culture and experiences, encourage participation, improve mental health, and decrease social isolation.
c) Ensure the long-term sustainable provision of a suitable safe space in Kirkcaldy
The society’s charity status will also open doors for additional funding opportunities and partnerships, enabling it to enhance its existing programmes and launch new initiatives. Kirkcaldy Gaming Society is committed to using these resources to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Embracing Diversity in Gaming
Founded on the principles of diversity and unity, Kirkcaldy Gaming Society celebrates the rich tapestry of gaming interests and backgrounds within our community.
Everyone and anyone is invited to come along to KGS, as it is a safe environment that is held at the HIVE in Kirkcaldy, which itself is a centre for the LGBT+ community within Fife.
KGS aims to provide a welcoming space to all and this is something we pride ourselves on with an already widely diverse membership who have formed a community that we would love others to come and join as well.
Where it all began
Kirkcaldy had a gaming space well before we formed our society. The community were supported by our Local Friendly Gaming Shop™, Kingdom Comics, for several years until the store had to close in early 2023. Each night, the retail space would convert into a small area for groups to play specific games.
The store closing meant that lots of small groups of friends all faced the same simultaneous problem; Where are we going to play now?! The solution was deceptively simple. We pooled our resources, formed a committee, and went hunting for a new place to call home.
We currently play a wide variety of games, 6 days a week, based in The Hive on Whytescauseway in Kirkcaldy. As Fife’s LGBT+ Centre, their ideals of inclusivity, safety and community are a perfect match for us and we’re proud to support them in their work too.
We want to grow, so that all kinds of people can congregate for a common, fun, purpose; Playing Games!

Meet the minds behind KGS

Nik
Hello! My name is Nik I’m 31 and for those who don’t know I’m the Chairperson for KGS. I’m a nerd of many varieties, I play in multiple RPG campaigns varying from the fantasy of Forbidden Lands to the Grimdark Future of Deatchwatch. I enjoy a variety of board games, Nemesis probably being my favourite (it’s very hard to choose). And I play all sorts of video games. I’ve been part of this community for over 10 years now and hopefully will continue to be part of it for many more. If you have any questions about this community or even just suggestions I’d love to hear them! And hopefully as we grow I’ll get to meet and even play in games with more and more of you!

Stewart
Hello! I'm Stewart and I am currently the treasurer for the committee. I also work on the strategic team looking at exciting things such as constitutions and various policies to keep KGS compliant, governed well and safe. I have been playing games since high school, starting with Rifts (an awesome TTRPG!). I mainly DM, and occasionally play, D&D5E on a Wednesday night at the Hive. I am a massive fan of Critical Role, Dungeons and Daddies, and NADDPOD. My favourite DM is BLeeM. I cast Blessing of Greater Friendship on you!

Niall
in the realm of tabletop gaming, few figures are as seasoned and dedicated as Niall — pronounced correctly, please. A passionate player since 2001, he now serves as Committee Manager for the KGS, where he oversees and facilitates a wide range of games, including Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Dungeons & Dragons, the Fallout RPG, and numerous board games.
With a deep appreciation for narrative, strategy, and community, Niall brings structure and enthusiasm to every session. A devoted fan of Star Wars, Marvel, and post-apocalyptic fiction, he enjoys the simple pleasures of IRN-BRU, Pepsi Max, pizza, and burgers — fuel for his creativity

Morgan
Hello KGS! My name is Morgan (26, he/him) been here since the start and now some fools have decided to put me in power Mwhahaha. Joking aside I've joined the committee as your new Secretary. This community means a lot to me and I'm hoping to pay it back as much as I can for all this place has done for me. No doubt you've probably seen me about as I've been in quite a lot to say the least but if you haven't seen me just look out for that ginger numpty who runs a viking inspired DND campaign or plays in a variety of other ttrpgs and board games or the occasional game of shatterpoint. Come up and say hi and I'm more than happy to talk total crap or even help out with anything. I'm hoping that I'll do a good job and that we can make the next year of KGS a bigger success than it has been

Andi
My name is Andi (Head Craftsperson), and I am a member of the KGS committee. My hobbies include playing DnD, board games and some other RPGs. Crafting is a big passion of mine, I like to cross-stitch, crochet, and model with polymer clay or air dry clay. As part of the committee, my roles are co-lead of the events team, as well as handling much of the social media for the Communications team. I am also the liaison between KGS and The Hive, our current residence. I have recently been working on our “One Shot Wednesday” schedule as well as working on our GM Certification programme. KGS is a huge part of my life. I am very passionate about the work we do to provide a safe and inclusive space in our community and as a disabled person I give a different perspective on accessibility and inclusivity. KGS means so much to me, it's where I've met some of my best friends and has helped me to become more social and has introduced me to some of my favourite new hobbies too! KGS has proven to me that if you keep on being yourself eventually you'll find your tribe, the people who love you for you Please, don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is anything you would like to discuss.

Claire
Hi, I’m Claire Bell – an event organiser with over 10 years of experience and a real passion for bringing people together. I absolutely love creating events that make people feel welcome, included, and excited to connect over shared interests.
Being part of Kirkcaldy Gaming Society lets me combine that passion with my love of gaming , helping to build a fun, friendly community for everyone.
Whether it’s a casual board game night or a fundraiser, I believe events have the power to create lasting memories and friendships – and I’m proud to help make that happen here!

Dan
First amongst the Daniels I've been called a "local legend" in the gaming community of Kirkcaldy.
I've been to almost every interpretation of the community since I was 13/14 years old. Having been part of Kirkcaldy gaming club, Kingdom of Adventure, Minmax (all locations), Kingdom Comics and games and now KGS.

Rob
Hey folks I'm Robert. I'm 39, a KGS board member and founder of Battle Lounge Fife.
While my geeky passions lie primarily in videogames, I've also been known to dabble in TTRPGs & board games and I'm an avid devourer of comics & manga.
If you have any questions about hosting videogame events, big or small, I'm your man! I can (and will) talk your ear off about competitive structures and logistics!

Ryan
Hey, I’m Ryan— 31 cycles around Sol. I’m passionate about games, from TTRPGs(slightly addicted to buying books)to card games(who can resist the shiny cardboard), and love learning new systems—especially ones with math rocks! I got into this community thanks to my son’s love for Pokémon cards.
We quickly learned to play through the amazing support here. Since then, I’ve been helping with events and now volunteer as a committee member. I’m always happy to lend a hand. Hope to see lots of smiling faces in our fun, safe community!

Scott
I am Scott. I’m 48 years old, and I live in Burntisland with my wife and my dog. I started off at KGS as a Dungeons & Dragons player only, but as the years have passed I’ve found myself playing board games, social games, other Table Top Role Playing Games.
I’ve even taking up painting and modelling, and will be looking to play my first Wargame soon. One of the things I love about KGS is how simple hobbies and games can lead to lasting friendships and discovering new things. I am very proud of the work we’ve done here.

Vince
Hola amigos de KGS!
I’m Vince and I’ve been part of KGS since late 2023 and I am excited to join now as part of the Committee.
By day, I teach young artists to level up their creative skills. By night, I’m a chaotic good “human” (although I’m almost definitely certain that I’m actually from the fae realm and I’ve tricked myself into forgetting that) who plays games with his pals and sometimes even podcasts about them (go listen to the Village Meeple).
I’ve been playing games since heroes were made of pixels and once competed in a Monopoly tournament… (and lived to tell the tale).
I love all things geek — board games, video games, D&D, the controversial MCU — and I even get tattoos about them because these stories have been with me for life.
I’m here to help you dodge a fireball in D&D, a blue shell in Mario Kart, or a bad review at your first art show. Let’s continue our journey together at KGS and face whatever new adventures come our way
