What to Expect from the AGM
KGS are required to hold an AGM every year. It's a formal meeting where the board of trustees report KGS performance for the year, and then all Trustees resign. We then nominate and if required, elect, the board of Trustees for the next year. It will take around 2-3 hrs, depending on questions and attendance and voting, but it is important for our members (that's you) to attend and have their voice heard, whilst exercising your democratic rights.
Do I need to do anything?
You can nominate or second the nomination of any potential Trustee, including yourself
You can vote on who should be a Trustee, if needed. A vote is needed if more than 11 people (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer +8) are nominated.
You can ask questions about our performance and our plans
You can do none of this, and just lurk in the background, although please vote if asked to! (It will be a private vote)
Trustee eh? Can I get in on that action? Yes! Pending a meeting earlier in June, we're planning on amending our constitution such that a member need only attend or receive trustee training in order to be eligible for this role. See below for details on the training.
Is that everything? Yeah, pretty much. An AGM is an important formality as part of our duties as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation that are regulated by the Scottish Charities Register.
Trustee Training
You can view a 28 min video here
You can refer to the presentation here
Viewing the whole video is required to be nominated, so please ensure you check it out in advance. It is somewhat interesting for people who don't want to be Trustees, but are curious what we get up to, so pile on! You may need a Gmail account to view the video.
